01 — The CPA

Decades of corporate accounting, now part-time

Our CPA partner began in retail accounting with The Foschini Group in South Africa, then spent almost thirteen years at Barrick Gold in Toronto, moving from managing corporate-office accounting to senior manager of corporate reporting and of global digital finance. She went on to lead accounting at Triple Flag Precious Metals and, from 2021 to 2026, accounting and reporting at IKEA Canada: country financial statements, audit and actuals reporting.

That is the discipline of a listed miner and a multinational retailer, brought to an owner-managed business: clean month-ends, reconciled balance sheets, reporting people can act on, and files an auditor or lender can follow.

02 — The systems

Systems that keep the numbers clean

Grant Lee Bloemetje has spent eight years in project accounting and operations, mostly in construction finance: job costing, WIP and revenue recognition, budgets against actuals, and cash-flow forecasting. He also builds the accounting and operations systems behind that work, the tools that take an enquiry to a quote, a job, an invoice and a ledger entry without anyone typing it twice.

Most bookkeeping problems start upstream of the books. Fixing them means changing how work flows, not just correcting entries afterwards.

03 — The practice

Why one practice

The usual arrangement leaves a gap: an accountant who sees the numbers once a year, and software nobody set up properly. We put the two halves in one small practice, so the person reviewing your books can also fix what produces them.

We keep it small on purpose. The roster is capped so every client works directly with a partner. No junior hand-offs, no call centre.
